Some books stay with us because of what they teach.

Others stay with us because of who reads them to us.

As Leo celebrates another birthday, I found myself thinking about two books that have become connected across generations in my family.

One reminds me of my childhood.

The other reminds me of the childhood we're creating together.

Mama, Do You Love Me?

This was one of my favorite books growing up.

My mom read it to me countless times, and even now I can still remember the comfort it brought me.

What I love most is its simple yet powerful message: love isn't dependent on perfection. Even after mistakes, difficult days, or moments of frustration, a mother's love remains.

As a child, it gave me security.

As an adult, I understand that message even more deeply.

Love You Forever

Now, when I read to Leo before bed, one of my favorite books is Love You Forever.

Like so many parents, I can't get through it without feeling emotional.

The words remind me how quickly time passes.

One day I'm rocking him to sleep, and before I know it, he'll be growing into the person he's meant to become.

Reading it with him reminds me to slow down and treasure these ordinary moments.

My Reflection

It's amazing how books can become part of our family stories.

One was passed from my mom to me.

The other is now being passed from me to my son.

Different books.

Different generations.

The same reminder:

Love has a way of continuing long after the story ends.

As Leo celebrates another birthday, I'm grateful for the moments we've shared with books in our laps, bedtime cuddles, and stories that I hope he'll carry with him one day, just as I have.

Because sometimes the books that stay with us become part of the people we become.
