Welcome to the Resilient Storyteller!
Healing is defined as “the act or process of restoring to health, making someone well again, or repairing damage” by Google, and Merriam Webster Dictionary explains healing as “the act or process of curing or of restoring to health.” Still, for me, it was defined by life. It was not something I was able to read about in a book or that my education provided. It was something I lived with since the beginning.
From the first day of birth, life was all about survival – I could not even breathe without an ECMO machine. I was born with disabilities and conditions, things I would learn more about throughout my growth. From an early age, I experienced life through the lens of medical challenges and uncertainty. Those experiences shaped how I see the world, how I understand pain, and how I sit with others in their hardest moments. They became the foundation for who I am and who I decided to become in my life.
My challenges led me to want to help others in some way. I thought it was by being a doctor or a nurse, but those professions could not work with the body God gave me. While attending college as a biology major, I had to take some psychology classes, and I found a passion I enjoyed. Due to the stress of classes, I also began to experience my own mental health concerns, which helped me become more understanding of these struggles. After many difficulties in my undergraduate studies, I decided to attend graduate school and become a mental health therapist.
After 3 years of education, 2 practicums, and another graduation, I was able to begin working in the field. My life experiences began to bleed into my work and helped create a passion for my clients and the services provided.
Today, I am a mental health therapist working closely with the American Indian and Alaskan Native community. My work is rooted not only in clinical training, but in deep respect for story, culture, resilience, and connection. I’ve had the honor of walking alongside individuals and families navigating trauma, growth, and healing—and I continue to learn from them every day.
I created this space because I believe something deeply:
Stories matter.
In both my personal life and professional work, I’ve seen how powerful it is when people feel heard, understood, and not alone. Healing doesn’t happen in isolation—it happens in connection, in reflection, and in honoring where we’ve been.
This blog is a place where all those things I have learned and experienced come together.
Here, you’ll find:
Reflections on healing and mental health
Stories of resilience (both personal and inspired by the work I do)
Culturally grounded perspectives on wellness
And the insights I have learned through my work
This is not a space for perfection.
It’s a space for honesty.
For growth.
For healing in all its forms.
Whether you are here as someone seeking understanding, support, or simply a place to feel a little less alone—I’m glad you’re here.
You don’t have to have it all figured out.
None of us does.
But you are worthy of healing.
And your story matters.
